The Model-T's assembly line revolutionized future assembly lines by the creation of interchangeable parts, globalizing its production and Making it such an affordable car.
INFORMATION aBOUT THE MODEL T
-First production happened August 12, 1908-September 27, 1927 at the Piquette Plant in Detroit, Michigan
-Also know as the "Tin Lizzie" and was named the most influential car of the 1900's
-The cost of the Model-T was $290 in 1926 so the working families could afford it.- The Model T made its debut in 1908 with a purchase price of $825.00. [Henry Ford Changes the World, 1908]
- It was build for the average American, with his ability to produce an affordable car was the development of the assembly line increasing efficiency of manufacture, decreasing its cost.
-Ford stated, "I will build a car for the great multitude. It will be large enough for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for. It will be constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise. But it will be so low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one – and enjoy with his family the blessing of hours of pleasure in God's great open spaces." ThE ASSMEMBLY LINE
Henery Fords Assembly line was created to make the production of cars more efficent the model-T revolutionized this idea with the creation of interchaneble parts. Below is a picture of the fFord plant where they are finishing putting the Model-T together.
"What was worked out at Ford was the practice of moving the work from one worker to another until it became a complete unit, then arranging the flow of these units at the right time and the right place to a moving final assembly line from which came a finished product. Regardless of earlier uses of some of these principles, the direct line of succession of mass production and its intensification into automation stems directly from what we worked out at Ford Motor Company between 1908 and 1913..." - Charles Sorensen
